BBC iPlayer on Wii
Filed in archive Wii by Stephen Lunn on November 27, 2009
Free downloads of the BBC’s iPlayer were made available last week for the Wii, and we here at houseofnintendo decided to delete a few of the less enjoyable games we had downloaded from WiiWare to make use of it. What we were surprised with was the tiny amount of space it takes up on the Wii’s hard drive however, so for this reason alone, it’s worth the download (and, of course, it’s free).

BBC iPlayer on Wii

We had expected it to be some shrunken, mini version of the iPlayer you find online, but it has all the programs you will find on the BBC’s site, up for the same amount of time. Slightly less reliable though, it does sometimes give you error messages when trying to stream a program, but its worth going offline and trying again. It is still miles ahead of Channel 4’s OD though, which even on a laptop is annoyingly glitchy. We were surprised by this, then, as for a console, let alone the Wii which we hardly expected even to get this feature along with the others, it is reliable and really worth the download.
