While My Sims looks like it introduces some fresh material to the mix, with certain mini games and actions different to the title it so clearly wants to be, Mall.HK's Jeff sums it up quite nicely:
"The enjoyment that you'll get out of My Sims is dependent on if you've played Animal Crossing or not, because the truth is, what My Sims does now, Wild World did so much better before. Granted EA have added new ideas of their own, some of the mini-games such as Dowsing are genuinely fun and makes great use of the touch screen while others are bland and boring. It's a trend seen a lot throughout the game; one minute your having fun increasing the star value of your town by participating in these intuitive games, the next your wandering aimlessly trying to find where to go next."
Throw in the missing ability for online multiplayer action, and you have a dead duck on your hands. I mean, if you're going to rip off a game so blatantly it would at least be a good idea to try to add something to the mix.
I'll be holding out for the Animal Crossing wii game this time around...
