IGN.com tortures us with April Fool's joke
Filed in archive Wii by Robert Howard on April 1, 2008
They had me for about 5 seconds. When I saw "World Premiere Legend of zelda Trailer" on IGN.com this morning, my eyes bugged out. THEY FINALLY DID IT, I thought, and the heart rate went up, and I began to scour the article for casting details...

then, almost as soon as I noticed the article, I remembered what day it was. April 1st.

Yeah, it's an April Fool's joke.

The actual trailer they did was pretty solid, though it isn't too hard to see that it is a spoof if you pay attention (it comes off OK, but certain aspects are pretty ridiculous, especially the literal interpretation of Link's clothing). Though some of the odd cinematography choices reminded me of "Bridge to Terabithia."

A Zelda move is of course something I'd get excited about, but this fake trailer reminds us all of what an incredibly difficult task it would be. I think any filmmaker would have to take certain liberties, at least if the intention was to make a Western style live action epic. The Zelda property might translate better into an anime film, in my opinion.

The worst part of the whole thing, in my opinion, is Ganondorf. He looks pretty stupid.
