Improved features on the final version of Opera Wii
Filed in archive Wii Online on March 28, 2007
The final version of the Opera browser for the Wii Internet Channel is but weeks away. Nintendo gathered their development team who worked with Opera Software for a chat about the improvements over the current trial version. Lots of tasty morsels of information were unearthed, such as an auto-hide toolbar, faster startup, and a vastly improved zoom feature. The programmers said that browsing the internet on the Wii is a social experience, so the final version supports multiple cursors (though only Player 1 can actually click anything).
Here are a few other small improvements to make our Wii browsing a little better:
- Favorites page immediately accessible
- Improved website compatibility
- New and better scroll interface
- Search button on the toolbar
- URL text (www and com) easily accessible
Check out the full article for the whole chat, including pics!

Honestly, I first had negative opinions about the Internet Channel. But when I tried the Internet Channel with my son at home, we had a blast. He got really excited when I zoomed in on pictures of big commercial vehicles like a trash pick-up truck on the TV! (laughs) That made me realize that this could have only happened on a TV.
