Konami Reveals First Wii Game

Japan's Weekly Famitsu dropped a big one on us this week: the first details on Konami's first Wii game. Shingo Mukaitouge -- best known for his part in Guitar Freaks and Drum Mania -- is serving as producer of the upcoming original title, Elebits.

From everything that is so far available, the game sounds a little similar to Pikmin. Players move throughout the game world searching for and collecting Elebit creatures. These creatures are the energy source that makes the game's world move. "Ele" supposedly means "electricity," and "bits" refers to the diminutive size of the creatures.

The more Elebits a gamer finds, the further the game world will evolve. The Elebits likely won't be easy to catch or find, as we are given the impression that the game will involve a "hunting" feel.

Mukaitouge hinted that he wanted players to feel like they're touching things inside of their television screen; he wants them to find and move things themselves. Perhaps some digging or other actions will be required with the Wii controller.

Elebits is certainly not of the same mold as Metal Gear Solid, which Konami is most famous for, which could be good or bad news depending on your game taste. Hopefully we'll know a lot more come E3 this May.
