Straight from the officially official Nintendo press site comes... drum roll... sales figures! While it may sound like something out of a Dilbert comic strip, I always find it strangely validating to glance over the big numbers and realize I'm not the only Nintendo fan out there. See that 35.61 million sitting there? I'm one of those. Two, actually, if you count both the original and DS Lite I purchased. Nintendo has always shown strong numbers despite lagging behind in the previous generation of gaming consoles. With the Wii and DS blasting out the door, though, things are most certainly looking up.

In North America, over half a million units of the DS were sold in its first week at retail, so combined with the Japanese figures, the new console has already got a global installed base of over a million units.
