Nintendo Wii everywhere
Filed in archive Wii on December 8, 2006
Can't get enough Wii in your life? If countless hours spent flailing your arms in front of your TV doesn't seem to quench the thirst, maybe these Nintendo Wii-related sites will help feed the beast within.
WiiCade is a simple website that is essentially useless at the moment. Designed with the Nintendo Wii's online capabilities in mind, WiiCade hosts unique flash games that will, in theory, work well with the motion-sensitive controller. Nice idea, nice layout, but without hacking our poor console it's a bit moot for the time being. Once the Wii version of Opera is released, however, it should really take off.
WiiSave is a more practical site that hosts save games for Wii titles and Virtual console games. Anyone with an SD card reader can swap games to and from their Wii system to share with the world. Can't seem to beat The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess? Steal someone else's hard work and become a first-rate cheater!
And honestly, does anyone ever get tired of Wii puns? Kottke.org compiled a list of news headlines with cheesy and/or predictable plays on the Wii name. The worst one has to be "Wii for Yoo and Mee".

Sony Playstation has released "Home," launched in beta form. The program is an online world where players can create a digital self, and interact in a virtual world. It is a kind of hybrid between the avatar program for the Nintendo Wii, and the online phenomenon Second Life. Home users create a custom representation of themselves, virtual homes, and can communicate with other people via chat with text and video, host friends online, play games, and do lots of things in the free version, but upgrades will be made available at the Sony online store, such as larger houses, clothes, furniture and other things, except those sell for real money. It is only in the beta stage right now, but it was officially launched on December 11th. Wii and Xbox 360 already have avatar programs, but Playstation home is the more sophisticated of the three, with its own music playing in-world, mini-games, even trophy rooms where accomplishments in gaming are displayed. Some critics maintain that people are likely to pay real money for things they don't need in the virtual world. Other people see some value in things like the Home program, and some see value in no fax payday loans, that can be an online home away from home.
