The video game version of speed racer for Wii has been getting some buzz as a nice alternative to Mario Kart, and it hits on May 6th. While it doesn't seem to support a robust online mode, making it inferior from the start to Kart, the game's art direction does look pretty sweet. If the gameplay is "ok" than perhaps Warner Brothers has a hit on their hands, just like THQ did with the million selling "Cars" title from 2006.
I think we can be hopeful here because, in general, movie tie-in games tend to do better when the movie is about racing- which is a little harder to screw up in video game form.
Let's just hope that the obnoxious Susan Sarandon, who is in the movie, makes no appearance in the game.
