Super Princess Peach Review

One game I've been looking forward to for a while now is Super Princess Peach for the Nintendo DS. While Nintendo has certainly made their mark in the platforming genre with the Mario series, lately they've just been recycling their games. As much as I enjoyed my NES Mario games, I don't think I want to pay another $20.00 for the same game on my Game Boy Advance.

Finally Nintendo is creating two new Mario-universe platformers: Super Princess Peach and the New Super Mario Bros. While we have to wait a little for the New SMB, Super Princess Peach is being released next week and IGN already has a review. The score of 7.8 might seem low, but that's only because it doesn't completely take advantage of the unique controls the DS offers.

If you're eager to play a game that demonstrates Nintendo's expertise in platform games, definitely pick up Super Princess Peach next week.

Super Princess Peach definitely shows Nintendo’s expertise in the platform genre. After all, the company built an empire with the Super Mario series and all that experience has clearly been put into Super Princess Peach, albeit in a slightly more sugared and simplified design. Control is unbelievably tight and responsive, with many of the same gameplay mechanics of Super Mario employed in Princess’ adventure: stomping enemies, smashing blocks, and collecting coins are three key elements to Super Princess Peach’s design. And many of the locations and enemies in this platformer are welcome nods to the Mario franchise.
