Nintendo have released the latest screenshots of the forthcoming Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Continuing their trawl through Nintendo history, the latest shots will jog the memory of anyone that played the SNES/Superfamicom Star Fox. Meet Andross, who looks like he might make for one tough nut to crack.




Over on the official Smash Brothers website you can see the full sequence of images, showing this blast-from-past boss in action. Andross has been rendered in his original form, being one of the very first Nintendo characters to have made the jump to 3D. This gives him a certain retro-chic.

But there's a bit more to him than old-world charm. Nintendo describe him in action:

"He swiftly moves to the back of the scene... And begins inhaling... Then he spits polygonal panels out of his mouth! Like a meteor storm, these panels come flying from the back of the scene to the front."

Anyone getting in the way had better watch out.

This is another great addition to the Nintendo canon. What's been great so far about the Smash Bros. franchise is its ability to mix great gameplay with trips down the Nintendo hall of fame that elicit so many great emotions. If you, like me, spent countless hours trying to take on Andross the first time around, today's screenshots will bring back some happy memories.
