With so many big Wii titles already released (with one big exception), one can wonder what is left to look forward to? Let's take a look at some exciting titles coming out for Wii during the rest of the spring and summer:
1. Mario Kart Wii
Yep, the last big blast in Nintendo's cannon comes at us April 27th. One has to wonder: after this game, what will Nintendo do? They need new IP badly.
2. Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World
Finally, a true epic RPG that isn't a weird roguelike bizarro fest like Atlus' Baroque!
3. Sambe De Amigo
This sequel to the popular Dreamcast and arcade rhythm game is being developed right where I live, by Dallas developer Gearbox (for SEGA). While the original was great but hard to get into because of the expensive marraca peripheral, the Wii already has the marracas built in- the Wii remote and nunchuk!
4. Blastworks: Build, Trade, and Destroy
A sidescrolling space shooter that was originally a free game developed by a lone Japanese man (the game was called Kumiki Fighters), Blastworks takes the original free game and adds something very special to it: a very robust level editor. As someone who makes games myself, this is very exciting! It is also going to be budget priced. Look for it on May 6th.
5. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Some of the early play tests have been very positive. Although true light SABRE control is not possible on the Wii Remote, it appears as though Lucas Arts has take the "Up, Down, Left, Right" Wii remote sword slashes to a new, much more accurate level. Games like Dragon Blade used this to emulate sword control, where instead of having a free range of motion, you simply triggered an "up" sword strike by waving "up." In theory, this would work pretty well, but so far no game has done it reliably enough to make it better than just pressing buttons.
There is a chance that this game has done it, making this late summer release look quite good for Wii fans. It also serves up a meaty action adventure, a genre that is lacking on Wii.

My pick is SO definitely Blast Works!! I actually pre-ordered it a few days ago... I really hope it gets a good buzz going and doesn't get released on a week when there's a lot of higher-profile stuff that it might get buried under...

Samba de Amigo better be good, or I'll be hurt forever. :(

blast works is actually based on a game called "tumiki fighters" by kenta cho, who is an amazing and prolific developer. what has me most excited about blast works is the fact that a bunch of his games will be available on the disc in their original forms.

Thanks Anna, for correcting me on what Blast Works is based on. Shame on me for getting that messed up!
Another aspect that is interesting is that he refused any royalties, if I'm remembering correctly, and just told Majesco to do whatever they wanted with the game.

@ Veronica: Gearbox seems like a pretty solid developer, I'm confident that they'll do alright.
Though Anna doesn't like the "Video Game Industry Power Players Weekly Poker Night" that the Gearbox CEO has on most weeks (-;
