Wii Controls: Success and Failure

A new blog has burst on the scene that has some excellent articles, which is "That Videogame Blog."
I enjoyed their recently published "Wii controls: the successes and failures," due to its level headed opinion and non-strident tone. Many gaming voices shout "foul!" when referring to the realized potential of the Wii so far, but Ashutosh Chhibbar recognizes that there has been a reasonable attempt to parlay the Wii remote to hardcore gaming, while at the same time recognizing its shortcomings.
At the top of his list are games such as resident evil 4 and No More Heroes. I'm particularly glad he suggested Resident Evil 4. Some gamers hated the Wii controls. I thought they were fantastic. He also bemoaned the fate of Medal of Honor Heroes 2: great controls, fully realized, but on what was essentially a PSP port. This doomed the game to poor sales from the start, and Metroid Prime 3 isn't enough of a FPS game to prove that this genre can succeed on Wii.

Any opinion about the Mario Kart controls? It seems like most of the hardcore people end up using the nunchuck. I myself am only about 10 races in, but I am holding the controller like a wheel and am enjoying it.
To me this Mario Kart’s novelty is the control, so I don’t yet see a reason to control it the old style ways.
Then again, I also liked Excite Truck, and it controlled this way too.

The Wii Wheel works fantastically well. I haven’t even considered not using it. I think it is vastly better than the Zapper in this respect.
Not only is it fun, but it doesn’t seem to affect the gameplay at all. I notice people online seem to favor Wii Wheel use heavily also.
