Rumors
by Stephen Lunn on November 11, 2009
House of Nintendo have heard these rumours before, but in an interview with the Financial Times, Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada (who is to Final Fantasy what Shigeru Miyamoto is to Zelda) has given credence to the latest rumours surrounding a Wii HD. With the Wii not even as yet offering an HDMI port for full use of your TV’s HD abilities, gamers have been thinking for a while that it’s time Nintendo, in their famed innovation, caught up with the competitors.
These comments from Wada come amidst a time of woe for Ninendo. Next year, Microsoft intend to release motion-sensing capabilities with their latest Xbox 360 models, but Wada dismisses the competition, maintaining that “the impact will be small”, when PS3 and 360’s greatest selling points are that they act as a “network terminal, a Blue-Ray and DVD player and a gaming machine”.
If Wada is to be believed, we could see a Wii HD as soon as Q1 2011.
