Wii Juggling? Balancing the hard core and casual more than just Carnival Games
Filed in archive Wii by Robert Howard on November 30, 2007
Everyone knows that internet Fanboys have been battling a war online for months since Wii's launch. In one corner, you have the Apologists. That would include myself and many others. Sure, we'd like to take Nintendo to task for depriving us of voice chat. Yet we also appreciate the return to "fun" as opposed to pretending to be Hollywood.
Wii Juggling? Balancing the hard core and casual more than just Carnival Games

At the root of such concerns is the idea that Wii only has, in the words of the average 11 year old still getting their "paycheck" in the form of a weekly allowance, "minigames and kiddie games."

Yes, everyone knows Nintendo's devotion to an expanded audience. Yet a great article on Gamasutra.com shows that Nintendo is doing a fine job balancing the needs of the core audience. According to IGN.com "GamerMetrics," Nintendo has more "core games" coming out in Q1-2 of 2008 than "casual."

No More Heroes, Okami, Sonic Riders, Mario Kart, Disaster Day of Crisis, and of course Smash Bros. Brawl are all slated to come out next year. It is hard to imagine Grandma rippin' through No More Heroes.
