Wii Remote Strap Tested
Filed in archive Wii on December 17, 2006
Broken television sets, injured humans, rumors of a recall, exchange options... Sounds like that flimsy Wii remote wrist strap, doesn't it? As it turns out, it's not so flimsy after all. A writer over at Nintendojo decided to perform a little test to see how durable the Wii wrist strap really is. Hanging various Nintendo-related hardware from it posed no threat, so he upped the ante with well over 25 pounds of weight on the poor little strap. The results? No breakage. Here's an excerpt:
In my scientific opinion, breaking wrist straps must be limited to those using the remote far, far beyond even the most wildly extreme playing condition, or those actually trying to break them. Reports of broken TV screens and ceiling fans are likely due to people not even using the wrist strap, which is their own fault.
How's that for flimsy and breakable?
Thanks to Michael for giving me the heads-up on this one!
