Wii Top 5 for Younger Gamers

5) Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon
I had never played the Spyro games when I took the time to review this for House of Nintendo. I was drawn in, however, by the brilliantly fun gameplay which uses the Wii remote excellently. The plot is helped along by the voice of Elijah Wood (of Frodo Baggins fame), and your young gamer will get dragged further and further into the story line. Collaborative gameplay is a nice feature, but can become frustrating at some of the more difficult points in the puzzle-based gameplay. If you can get used to it, however, it could become one of the best elements of an already very good game.
4) Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
An educational and colourful puzzle game, you'll love playing this yourself with any of your young gamers. With maths, memory and visual challenges available to play in marathons, 2 to 4-way competitions and mind sprints, it has a rating of 3+, but don't let that stop you!
3) Mario Kart
A visually brilliant affair which has some of the best controls available on a console which boasts fun and immersive controls in the first place, Mario Kart is another game for all ages.
2) Super Smash Bros Brawl
A game with a simple "beat 'em up" format taken to extremes, hours of fun are available here in a loud and colourful meeting of some of gaming culture's most loved characters.
1) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Any young gamer will love the latest installment to the Zelda franchise. Kids of any age (including 30-year old ones) will be amazed by the new world on offer to them here, a genius creation from the minds of the most inventive of Nintendo's concept developers. If you only had to buy one game which you knew would keep anyone satisfied for weeks straight, and thanks to player immersion one which you'll play more than once, it's Twilight Princess.
