Wii’s classic games to be priced less than US$10

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata spoke yesterday at a Japanese marketing event where he revealed information about "virtual console" pricing and how the Wii relates to the DS. Regarding the virtual console, Iwata announced that Nintendo will price the old titles at ¥500 and ¥1,000, roughly US$4.50 to US$8.99.

To put things in perspective, classic retro games for the nintendo game boy sold for US$35 for some titles, and US$19.99 for others. These games hardly sold well, as gamers were reluctant to pay 2006 prices for 1980s games.

As for connectivity between the Wii and the DS, Iwata revealed more exciting goodies. Demos for the DS can be downloaded via the Wii, and the DS can also be used as a touch controller for some Wii games. He went on to imply that future DS games will have added or expanded content when played with the Wii.

Let's hope this round of connectivity is more fun and useful than the previous attempts with the GBA and GCN.
