One of the defining moments in The Legend of Zelda history was the SNES Release of A Link to the Past. This massive, sprawling 2D Zelda brought the series to the 16-bit era and introduced a lot of new gaming conventions that have stuck around to this day. The game is widely regarded as the grandfather of the modern Zelda series, and today (just about 15 minutes ago as I type this), Nintendo has released the original Super NES version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the Wii Virtual Console. For 800 Wii Points you can get one of the most-favorited Zelda games and certainly one of the best 2D iterations ever.
