Wii U to Turn Fortunes for Nintendo

The hardcore gamer probably does not hold the Wii in high regard these days with most gamers preferring to buy the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. This was not the case earlier when the Wii hardware and games were taken to be the best in the sector. When GameCube was launched it had some good titles but they did not impress the gamer.
Now as Nintendo is gearing up for the release of Wii U in 2012, they are expecting to return Wii to its former glory. According to Amber McCollom, Director of Marketing at Nintendo, the Wii U that was showcased at the E3 Media Briefing generated interest and will definitely win back the dedicated gamers.
The console will feature a number of titles form 3rd parties and is expected to speed up the sales of the Wii. U. The console will not be able to play GameCube disks which might be a turn off for many gamers but the company said that the users who want to play GameCube titles can re-purchase and download the titles from the WiiWare service.
