Image from billboard.com Video Games Live, a concert tour featuring classic video game tunes as well as works by the tours conductor and main "pitchman," noted game composers Jack Wall and Tommy Tallarico, has finally released a live CD. This CD has landed on the #10 slot on the Billboard Classical Crossover charts. This is a major accomplishment for video game music in America, and Tallarico and Wall should be proud [...] Read More
Why Wii Games Are Too Expensive, And Why They Aren't House of Nintendo
Image from IGN.com One thing many people have been noticing with Wii games is that they are overpriced. This has been an unusual concern, since the standard MSRP of $50 is actually ten dollars lower than Wii's high powered rivals. Yet, games on that system, even if they are sub-standard in terms of gameplay, tend to have at least something about them that seem to justify their price in the eyes [...] Read More
Weird earrings time Are you a beauty?
Although I just love earrings and they are my favorite accessories, I really can't make up my mind why the ones you can see on the photo left strike me as so weird. Those are named Thorn double hoop earrings and I found them on Vivre. Thorn earrings were designed by Herve van der Straeten, and I would like to know what was the idea behind this ornament. I don't think I [...] Read More

Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Friend List House of Nintendo
Nintendo's official Smash Bros. site has released new information today regarding the online mode of the game. Specifically, friend list management. I like the taunts; it should be good fun to think of clever phrases to include with your character. However, like any Smash Bros. Fanatic, I gently weep that there will be no voice chat in the game... [Via Gonintendo] Official Smash Bros. Site [...] Read More

Midway Announces Support for Revolution House of Nintendo
More good new for Nintendo and its fans, as Midway has announced that they will be supporting the Revolution with a number of games. Midway, the developer of the popular fighting series Mortal Kombat, has so far announced just three next-gen titles and three additional next-gen projects in development. In addition to one Revolution title for 2006, Midway's projects so far look like this: Unreal Tournament 2007, The Wheelman, Stranglehold, one [...] Read More
Nintendo Having Trouble Pressing Enough Wii Discs, Says Midway House of Nintendo
According to Midway's VP of publishing Miguel Iribarren, Nintendo is "a victim of their own success," and they are having trouble keeping up with the demand for Wii game product. Now, we all know that Nintendo has had troubles keeping up with the demand for the hardware itself. This is the first evidence that I'm aware of that the problem of demand extends to disc manufacturing. Unfortunately for Midway, this means [...] Read More
Two More Games Announced for Revolution House of Nintendo
Crossbeam Studios Entertainment has announced that they will be bringing two, and hopefully three, new games to the Nintendo Revolution. CSE is a small studio--the team working on these games has just sixteen members--but they hope to be very successful on the next generation consoles. CSE's "About Us" page describes them as unconcerned with polygon count and other graphical issues, which sounds exactly like Nintendo. Orb and Thorn are the two [...] Read More
Demo Impressions - Battlestations: Midway XboxSpace
I've played a few games of Battlestations: midway since the multiplayer demo hit Xbox Live yesterday, and I'm still not sure whether or not I'm having fun. Actually, I'm still not sure that I've learned all the controls. The game is part strategy, part action -- in theory, at least. There's a tactical map that lets you issue orders to units under your command but without a manual I don't have [...] Read More
Area 51 Designer Leaves Midway XboxSpace
It looks like Blacksite designer Harvey Smith got that PR call after all:Today, a Midway executive told ShackNews that Smith's speech at the conference was tantamount to a "public resignation." Smith was working out of Midway's Austin studio. Midway Austin studio head Denise Fulton confirmed the designer's departure, but refused to discuss the cause, saying only that it was "by mutual agreement between Harvey and the studio."Well, that's one way to [...] Read More

New downloadable games have been made available on Nintendo's online game stores, including WiiWare, DSiWare and the Virtual Console. For anyone who wants a quick purchase and an easy download, these are always good places to take a look for some simple, basic games, and you might even find some to bring out the more nostalgic side in you.
On the Virtual Console (available on Wii), the one-player NES game Mega Man 4 has just been released, a game that will cost you 500 Wii points (or £3.50 in the UK). You must save the world from a mad scientist and restore peace to your land. A plot we've all heard before, but it was still an enjoyable game.
On DSiWare you can get Surviving High School (a game in which you must try and bag yourself a cheerleader after having joined the football team. Even Glee has avoided such tired cliches, and while Nintendo have a knack for understanding tongue-in-cheek, I'd still say avoid this like an angry pigeon), Donkey Kong Jr (a game which we will take a look at and get back to you, we hope it is well worth the look like most of its predecessors!) and Ball, a co-ordination testing game which tests your juggling skills.
Available on WiiWare is Bang, a game which utilises the Wii remote like a hammer. To find out about, check out Nintendo's own preview of it here.

Revolution Stand: Just a Stand House of Nintendo
Sometimes a cigar can mean much more, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. And that's the case with the Revolution's stand: it's just a stand. There have been rumors of late that the Revolution's stand would double as the console's power source. At first, that seems like a great idea--God knows we don't want another power source bigger than my foot, like the Xbox 360's mammoth power brick. [...] Read More
Need more proof that the gaming media can't stand Wii? House of Nintendo
Image from amazon.com Running like a speeding bullet from the blogosphere is the latest slam on Wii from a games industry hotshot, this time the villain being the president of Epic Games (note: I liked it better when they were Epic Megagames!). I'm not so much interested in Epic's anti-Wii comments: they make super powered middleware that demands monster specifications, so they have a lot to lose if the gaming industry goes [...] Read More
Revolution Developers Get More than 1000 Dev Kits House of Nintendo
IGN has recently reported that over 1000 Revolution development kits have been distributed to various developers. Perhaps unfortunately for Nintendo fanboys, many kits are said to be nothing more than Gamecubes with wired Revolution controllers. However, many of the more prestigious developers have supposedly received kits that more closely resemble the Revolution and will soon have kits that are approximately 90% similar to the final kits. Developers expect these by June. More [...] Read More
Small Business Lessons from a Lemonade Stand Bizinformer
It's summertime and lemonade stands run by elementary school entrepreneurs have popped up all over town. When I was that age I didn't have a lemonade stand but I did find things to make, put in a sandwich bag and sell door to door whenever I needed money. It is that same risk taking spirit that has inspired the Inc sponsored lemonade stand contest for kids ages 5-12. In a recent [...] Read More
