Developers are not releasing as many cheat codes as they used to in the past and gamers who love beating the system of a game by accessing cheat codes to unlock game modes, weapons and levels are making lesser use of them. Wonder why?
Developers, who themselves, use cheat codes to test their games and often demonstrate them with much enthusiasm to journalists are no more part of the final product these days.
Also, when there are cheat codes available to crack a game, its use is restricted. Some games award cheat codes as a bonus for finishing the game or completing a mission, besides this cheat codes are not easily attainable.
Gamers have also become extremely time poor these days and do not have the time to get to each level to finish a game. They have become frequent visitors to video game stores where they simply purchase a new game to see what it offers, finish the story and attain value for money spent.
